New films on Docuseek2Over 100 new films!

We have been busy over the summer building up the content on Docuseek2. In June, we added three titles from KimStim, the Brooklyn-based distributor of independent documentaries. In August we finalized deals with London-based Scorpion TV and Austrian-based Autlook Filmsales. Collective Eye Films added 12 more titles to their collection on Docuseek2 in September. And over the last three months, Icarus Films and Bullfrog Films built up their contributions.

All told, we have over 100 more titles on the site than we did when the summer began. At last count we have over 590 titles available for academic streaming.

While the New Releases page will show the dozen or so newest releases, you may also search for new content via the Advanced Search page. Enter a start date in the Date Added field, and optionally select a distributor to see new titles from that distributor.

Featured series - Jean Rouch: Six Films

The West African films of Jean Rouch revolutionized both cinema and the practice of ethnography in the 20th century. The Rouch titles available on Docuseek2 include his most highly regarded works. The set represents the period of his most sustained creative flourishing, in which he developed the techniques of "ethno-fiction" and "ciné-trance". He described his practice during this era as "shared anthropology", which he said “appears to me to be the only morally and scientifically feasible anthropological attitude today.” Click here for more info.
